Hi

I am looking for any information or connections to the family of George Todd & Ann Beecroft of Durham. George & Ann were married in 1815 at Bishop- Wearmouth, Durham, England.

What I'd like is to know of any other children George & Ann had and their death dates if possible. Someone contacted me via Ancestry a few weeks ago, who suggested that George Married twice.

I know of only one son that they had:

John Todd - born 1817 - died 1897 (he moved to Middlesex where he became an builder and from what I gather rather rich). John being the 2x Great Grandfather of my brother in law.

I have also been led to Believe that George was also a builder and also moved to Middlesex.
I think the below is possibly George's birth:

Name:
George Todd
Birth Date:1782
Event Type: Baptism
Father: John Todd
Mother:Isabella Todd
Baptism Date: 28 Jun 1782
Baptism Place: Sunderland, Durham, England

I have found a will for a George Todd esquire (from 1876 who drowned in the River Thames) from Handover Square (effects totally under £25,000. Not sure if this George Todd is the one I am looking for or a different man.

Baker, King, Rice - Boxford, Suffolk, Baldwin - Bures St Mary, Suffolk
Richer - Thorpe-Le-Soken & Colchester, Essex
Pritty - Wivenhone Essex, St Martin Colchester, Essex
Scutcher/Cutchey - Great Bentley & Great Clacton, Essex

This looks like the death of that George?
September qtr 1876
St Saviour Registration District      vol 1d, page 6

Todd, George     age 68

That puts his birth at c.1808?

I should point out that the 1871 census has 36 George Todds living in Middlesex!

Hi

Thank you to everyone who helped and provided some information - really appreciated.

I will review it all over the next week  (last few days at work for 3 week Christmas break)

I also only just noticed that John's baptism in 1817 says his mothers surname was Bennett not Beecroft (which is what is on the marriage).

From the 1861 census John is living at Stanley House Chelsea. From little I could gather yesterday the home was built by either John or his father George (depending on the Website).

Regards

Sandra
