possible bands read at norfolk church
« on: Sunday 11 December 16 02:11 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

My 3x paternal grandparents married in Brailsford Derbys on the 1st of August 1774. John Frost and Mary Ault. Yet there is also possibly a coincidence a marriage for a John Frost and Mary Ault on the 1st August 1774 at a Michael-le-belfry, Norfolk.

Is it possible these are the same people i don't know. I do not have access to Norfolk records and wondered if anyone can suggest what to do to check this marriage in norfolk please.

I would assume that one of the parties of the marriage are from Norfolk.

What are the sources of the two records and have you seen images of either?
Middlesex: KING,  MUMFORD, COOK, ROUSE, GOODALL, BROWN
Oxford: MATTHEWS, MOSS
Kent: SPOONER, THOMAS, KILLICK, COLLINS
Cambs: PRIGG, LEACH
Hants: FOSTER
Montgomery: BREES
Surrey: REEVE

There is quite good coverage for Norfolk online.
Familysearch has images of PRs (I am on ipad atm so can't check coverage as familysearch does not work on my ipad): https://familysearch.org/search/collection/location/1986340?region=England
Freereg is good for Norfolk: https://www.freereg.org.uk/
And also: http://tinstaafl.co.uk/nbp/index.htm

Dates and parishes covered will vary. I have not checked to see if they fit in with those you are researching.

The Banns are read on 3 Sundays in the home parish of both the bride and groom.

So one of them must have stated that they were of that particular parish?
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

The entry, a transcription only, gives Mary Ault's husband as HENRY Frost, not John - 1 August 1774, Brailsford, Derbyshire.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

Sue,
With errors in both location and groom's name, it might be an idea to double check all that you have on this line so far, just to make sure you are on the right track.  :)

Added: you made a typo in the subject by the way. It's banns, not bands.  ;) :)
