Hard labour
« on: Sunday 11 December 16 14:14 GMT (UK) »
Hi i have a copy of a court appearance of a gt grandfather of my husband ,He had been charged for being drunk on a public road in derrynea parish of Killinnin 1886 . He was fined and looks like he didn't pay this and was sentenced to 7 days hard labour. Anyone know what hard labour entails.
Thank you
Lynda

It could mean breaking rocks, or working on a treadmill?
