Jane from Lockerbie?

Thomas Pattinson d.o.b. 5th july 1873 farmer at Blennerhasset Farm is on the 1939 register so must be  the right Thomas, does this confirm that the marriage of Janet Bell Carruthers to John Pattinson in 1874 is right? She must have started calling herself Jane after they married.

It confirms that he's most likely  the Thomas that Isobel found and his mother was Janet Carruthers.

I've found something odd, If you remember, I found the John and Mary family in 1871 but with just Janet - no sign of Jane. However, I've found a marriage for Janet (elder sister) to a William Irving in 1870 - correct parents (checked with birth info on FS for their son Thomas b 1861-2). Now,  is the Janet who is living at home in 1871, the Jane b. 1850-51? If so, she might have become Janet.   I'm puzzled 

I've looked for obituaries/probate for John and Jane Pattinson (1921 and 1927) but can't find anything that gives any other info.  I've checked the website that you mentioned but he doesn't give the source of his info.  It may be worth e-mailing him - he does give  his address.

John Pattinson died 14th June 1917 at Uldale Hall, I found his will, I am sure it is the right man because he leaves his money to his sons Thomas, John & Joseph.

Joseph, Elizabeth, Jeanie and William Wilson Pattinson all living at Uldale Hall in 1911 census, so seems like John died in 1917, I had Jane as dying in 1911 but have found no will.

That's interesting - there were 2 John Pattinson's who died in Wigton RD - one in 1917 (b. 1835) and one in 1921 (b. 1834).  I found a Jane death, right d of b in 1927.

I've checked Thomas's birth and the address that Janet gives is Gibson Hill, Tundergarth. JBC lived at Gibson Cottage, Tundergarth with her parents in one of the censuses. So it looks very likely that it was she who married John. 

I'd still contact that web owner to see if he has the cert or church record of the marriage though.

Just seen that there were two Jane Pattinson deaths in Wigton ~

1911 - born 1850
1927 - born 1849

Added - the 1911 one was Q1 - was she on the 1911 census (taken 2 April)?  Also, is she mentioned at all in John's will?

Yes Jane was on the 1911 census, her and husband John and John junior and Mary were living on Grange farm at Blindcrake. John does not mention his wife in his will.

Have just received the marriage certificate for John Pattinson & Janet Bell Carruthers, it is the right couple.
