According to the new GRO online index the mother's maiden name was YORK.

Not sure, but it seems likely the parents were William Thomas MORRIS and Laura Frances YORK, married Mar qtr 1887 at Wellingborough. I see them in 1901 census:

William T Morris   37   Ecton, Northamptonshire
Laura F Morris   35   Hargrave, Northamptonshire
Lily F Morris   13   Ecton
Eliza R Morris   8   Weekley
William E Morris   0   Helmdon

William James d Mar qtr 1892 Wellingborough.

Many thanks for your help.  I can now rule out this child.  If ok will tell you a bit of a story.
I inherited my Grandmothers photo album.  In it were a lot of photos of the family back in England and this is what started me on my road family history over 20yrs ago.
My Grandfather Charles B (Brown) Morris and his brother Fred came out to Australia 1912.  I have all this history and history of other children in England except the last lot of photos.  These photos presented many, many years of thought of who they were.
I was doing some research for my husband who is Sec/Treas of the New England District Council of RSL Sub-Branches. New South Wales Australia.  I
came across a James Morris who enlisted in the Australian Army 4Jan 1916. In his army papers, it stated he was born in Raunds Wellinboro'. Also a letter, dated 22 June 1917, to the Australian Army from his sister, who was residing in Brisbane Aust.  I did not know Emma Mary Gadsby(née Morris) was here also.  The letter confirms that James was the son of Mrs. H. Brown 44 Thorpe
Street,  Raunds.  Mary Hannah Morris (mother) was born 1858 in Raunds and lived with Stephen Brown from 1880 until they married in 1898.  They had abt 10 children.
I am trying to find out about this James Morris. The photos I have are of James, Gertrude Alice, (née Falliers) his wife whom he married in Richmond Hill, Christchurch 3Jan 1919 (extract of marriage in army papers) and their son Peter James Morris who was born in Bournemouth 20 Sept 1919.
Question 1:  could this be Jethro born 1891 Raunds (but why James)
Question 2:  when did he come out to Australia 1st time before he joined in Australia.
Question 3:  when did James, Gertrude and Peter James come out here.

Any help with this elusive James would be very greatly appreciated. :P :)

I wonder why the marriage certificate in the AIF records shows James' father as George MORRIS bootmaker (dec)?

Thanks Sandy, I think joken has eliminated this William as a possibility for the person she is looking for.  ;)

Here is an item showing when James MORRIS decided to enlist in Aus. Will keep searching, very intriguing!

Thank you very much,
Because Hannah and Stephen were not married all the children  were registered Brown Morris. Pops birth certificate stated name: Charles Brown Mother Morris.  Pop was born in 1888.  Why George - not sure. Stephen's occupation was a bootmaker.  The only child not Morris was the last - Ada Brown (born 1899) as she was born the year after they married - 1898
