BAYRAM
« on: Friday 16 December 16 20:33 GMT (UK) »
I have found a reference to Bayram in the Gisborne area of NZ and, after some research, it appears that they may be distantly related to me.

The names I have are Ron (deceased 2012), wife (*).

Any further help/info etc appreciated.

Regards, Andrew.

Hi Andrew

You've mentioned the names of the wife and daughter of Ronald BAYRAM.

*  Do you know if they too are deceased ??

If not, then their names will need to be removed from your post above (as they are deemed to still be living.   See RootsChat's policy on "searching for the living").

You haven't said where your "reference" to the BAYRAM name in Gisborne came from ?
At the following link you can see cemetery records for others of that name (as well as Ronald) ... which may be of further help ?

Thank you for the responses, will look further.

Googling the name Bayram found them.

Apologies for the names, I just didn't think - my fault.

Hi Andrew

It seems that the New Zealand "branch" of the BAYRAM family, started with a Frederick BAYRAM who appears to have arrived here just prior to the outbreak of WW1.   In fact he served with the NZ Army.    [I'll give you the link to his Army record, next post.]

The Army record shows that Frederick was born at Hull, Yorkshire - date of birth is given as 16 August 1891 in two instances ( - though another has 16/9/1892 ?).  His next-of-kin was his father, Thomas BAYRAM of Anlaby, Hull, England.  This Frederick BAYRAM died on 20 November 1950 and is buried at Gisborne.  [See the cemetery records link I gave earlier. ]

NZ Marriage

Frederick BAYRAM - Mary Jane ATKINS -- Year:  1921

[The above couple appear to be the parents of the Ronald BAYRAM you found. ]
