Hi
Can anybody find this family after 1861?
William Stephenson born c1850 in Sunderland and married Sarah Ann Ball in 1871.
He can be found quite easily between 1871 and 1911 even though his surname is spelt with a 'ph' in 1871, 1901, and 1911, but with a 'v' in 1881 and 1891.
Finding him with his parents therefore has proved problematic and I'm hoping I may have cracked it and avoided buying his marriage certificate!
I believe that his parent's may have been George and Elizabeth Stevenson/Stephenson.
I haven't found their marriage yet, but they appear together in 1851 living in 54 Wellington Lane, Sunderland (George born c 1829 in South Shields), Elizabeth born c 1830 in Sunderland.
They are living next door to the Smith family.
By 1861, George and Elizabeth have 5 children, the eldest of whom, William, I believe is 'my' William.
They also have Thomas, aged 7 years, John G (George), aged 5 years, Annabella, aged 3 years and Elizabeth, aged a year.
They are living with William Smith and his young wife, Mary Jane (nee Weddell), and are listed as being brother and sister in law.
Can anybody find them in 1871? By this time their son William had married, so I wanted to check that he wasn't still with them.
I can find William Smith and his wife and family but there is no trace of George, Elizabeth or any of their children (apart from William - fingers crossed).
Can anybody trace them or what happened to them?
Thanks
Sue
