Various photos by George Washington Wilson here (search for Annan)
https://www.abdn.ac.uk/historic/gww/

A couple more of Annan in the St Andrews university James Valentine archive, there's a database you can search here:
http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/imu/imu.php?request=search

There's specific mention of Bank St, Annan in Scotlandsplaces but no mention of images alas.

The photo's are great even though they were 1880/1890's. Your ancestor was born the year mine died, 1857.

Thanks again and a Merry Christmas  :D

The earliest photographs were taken in the 1820s (in France), so you won't find any of High Street Annan prior to that.  ;) Talbot was working around the 1840s in England.

You may however find drawings, etchings or paintings - a local history society or archives may be able to assist you.

Thank you for this information. I now know why I have been unable to find any.

Thanks to all for the photos & photo sources. My ancestor was born in Annan & we spent many a vacation there when i was a child. The street has not changed much & is instantly recognizable!

Yes, it is great when places haven't changed and are instantly recognizable.
