Looking for Bodawen, Porthmadog in the 1901 and 1911 census
« on: Monday 19 December 16 15:30 GMT (UK) »
Good afternoon

I do not usually do address searches but am looking at the farm residences around Bodawen, Porthmadog on the 1911 and 1901 census' and am struggling with the search on FindMyPast

Have tried to search for Ynyscynhaiarn as a parish and then scroll through the results but its not there; nor if I use Tremadog - suggestions would be appreciated please  :)

Looking for a Jones' family ! so I really want to scroll through the pages.

Thank you very much
Nesta

Hi
Sent you link direct from Ancestry which will give you access to the Bodawen 1901 Census record even if you don't have an Ancestry subscription.
There is a Thomas Jones serv.  15  general labourer  Merionethshire, Penrhyn  at Bodawen Lodge

There is a problem re Ynyscynhaiarn 1911 Census if you want to access them to browse, in that they come under Merionethshire instead of Caernarvonshire.

Hi Nesta
This information may have no relevance to the Jones's you are interested in but there is a William Jones, shipbuilder of Bodawen Lodge in Ceiri Griffith's Achau family tree [130]. He was the third husband of Jane Jones b.1837 daughter of Captain Evan Jones owner of Britannia Stores and the ship "Britannia". Mother Elizabeth Roberts, Treflys.

Glyn
Jones - Penmachno/Blaenau Ffestiniog/Capel Garmon
Thomas - Abererch/Porthmadog
Evans - Llangelynin/Llanaelhaern
Jones - Pwllheli/Abererch
Brammer - Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire
Robb - London/Scotland

Thank you Glynn

Unfortunately not the right Jones' we are nowhere near that far back yet. Wasn't looking so much for Bodawen but the surrounding properties I used Bodawen as a useful landmark !
