Hingston Family - Devon, England to Calgary Alberta

Hello,

I wondered if anyone could help me with Canadian records.  William John Hingston (born 1871) and Emma Hingston (1867) moved to Calgary, where they are listed in 1916.  Their children were Percy Harold (1895), Stanley (1895), Francis Henry (1899) and Winifred Alexandra (1902).  The children were all born in England.

I have found William and Emma's deaths in 1936 and 1937 in Calagry.  I have also found Percy's death in Vancouver in 1964.

Other than that I can't find out anything about this family.  My aim would be to make contact with living relatives so I wondered if anyone could advise me where to look for marriage/ death records etc.  Any help would be appreciated.  If anyone has information pertaining to living people please contact me via pm.  Thank you

There are no Central registries/indexes in Canada for BMDs.  Canada has very strict privacy laws and each province imposes its own even further.  Additionally, some provinces are more research friendly than others so researching in Canada can be challenging.    As a guide BMD Records are only available for births more than a 100 years ago, marriages 85 years ago (They are up to about 1931 ish at the moment)and deaths 70 years ago. There are also restrictions on who can apply for a birth certificate. Death certificates can be released if the death occurred more than 20 years ago and the deceased would be 75 years of age or more.

So you can see from that how tight the privacy laws make it in trying to get information for the time frame you require.

There is a Stanley Hingston the Calgary Voters' Lists in 1968 living with his wife Beatrice on 4th Avenue NW.  Stanley is noted as retired.

Unfortunately, Alberta does not have any of their vital statistics online.

Stanley Hingston passed away in 1990 - aged 95 years.

Canada Voters List 1963 shows a Francis H Hingston (labourer)  with a wife Eva F Hingston (waitress)
35 Street SW Calgary Alberta.
