« on: Saturday 24 December 16 17:42 GMT (UK) »
Merry Christmas everyone.  :) :) :) :)

I am trying to find the parents of William Dent born C1804 Ashby De Louch.

I first find him in 1851 living in Hartpury,Gloucestershire with his wife Sophia Bannister who he married 22/5/1820 at Hartpury.

Looked at Peckleton on Genuki;

" Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire [SK357167] is 12.1 miles (19.5 Km) NW of Peckleton, Leicestershire"

1851 William is born c 1800 Clouton, Leicestershire

Likely this is;
COLEORTON is a village and civil parish in North West Leicestershire, England. It is situated on the A512 road approximately 2 miles** east of Ashby de la Zouch.

Thanks Trish.

I have looked at the map and I see what you mean.

So he could be baptised at Coleorton or Ashby de la Zouch.I wiil have to pay a visit to the Leicester records office but that really narrows it down.

William Dent married Sophia Bannister in 1820 at Hartpury,Gloucestershire.He was a farmer at Hartpury of about 40 acres.He lived with his wife until she died in 1874.My Great Grandfather Frederick John Haines born 1858 was the son of Elizabeth Haines she never married.Frederick's two  marriage certificates said William Dent farmer was his father.

Hi Willsy.

Thank you for your time and help.Surely that has to be my William although bapt,Dec 1797 could stretch that to 1798 I have him aged 51 in 1851 =1800, 60 in 1861=1801, 71 in 1871=1800 80 in 1881=1801 and died 1886 aged 84 = 1802.I wish I could find him in 1841 he would be with his wife Sophia and at least one son Walter born c1839 at Hartpury.Just to see how old he was.

Hi Willsy.

In Williams notes I have 1830 occupation potter.

I only have Walter down as a child because I had decided not to go down William and Sophia's children's line(the children that were in 1851 census)because my tree was getting too big.However I did keep Walter because he had a link to someone else.It does look like that is the right 1841 census you have found.I am not able to look at it here at home but will look at it on Tuesday and thank you.Do YOU think it is the right William in Coleorton?.
