Hi I'm trying to find any information on Dennis Porter born around 1790 in Kirkby Stephen Westmorland. I'm particularly interested in finding who his parent were and where they came from. Is anyone able to help? It'd be greatly appreciated if you can

Hi and welcome to Rootschat, I seem to recall having problems previously with baptisms in Westmorland, possibly someone can assist you in some way, if I am correct in 1841 he was married to a Hannah living in Hessle, Sculcoates with children, he then remarries in Dec qtr 1855 Patrington 9d 439 to an Ann Holmes, this certificate will provide at least the name of his father?

Hi

As mentioned by keyboard the 1855 marriage certificate should give information on his father.

Do you have his first marriage

Did he marry Hannah Extoby in 1814 at Hessle.  :-\  Witnesses to that marriage were Thomas Porter & Robert Extoby

In case you don't have this

Beverley and East Riding Recorder dated 11th July 1863
Attempted suicide
An old man of the name of Dennis Porter residing at Hessle attempted suicide on Thursday by hanging himself to a high gatepost outside the village.  He was cut down before life was extinct and attended to by Mr Anderson who holds but slight hopes of his recovery.  The reason he gives is that he was tired of life.

Thank you I wasn't aware of that. Such a sad event. Do you have anything else?
