Search for Long Eaton Home on 1939 Register

Hi everyone,

A relative has asked me to help them look up their home on the 1939 Register. We know the home was built in the 1920's and so we assumed a search would yield a result. Unfortunately, the houses on the road at that time appear to have names not numbers i.e. 'Moordale'. We have no idea what name the house had, and nor do any of the neighbours! There are no bricks or plaques which state the name unlike many other homes in the area.

My question is, do we need to look at a map of Derbyshire to find this or is there another resource we could use? If anyone is able to help the road is Longmoor Road in Long Eaton and we are looking for number 76.

The picture is of no 76 Longmoor Road from Street View., which should help you to find it - no name.

It is just past Grasmere Road going towards Curzon Street.

Hi David,

She lives there now and we have looked at old maps but it doesn't state the 'name' of the house. We did a quick look up on the 1939 Register and all of the houses on the road (including 76) are not listed by house numbers.

We're very interested in who may have lived there as we'd love to learn the story of the home!

How about walking down the road to see if any houses have numbers and names.

Make a note of what you find and look at the 1939 register to see if you can work out which name is 76.
