William Hugh Nicholls
« on: Thursday 29 December 16 10:32 GMT (UK) »
William Hugh Nicholls, born 2 January 1858, Westbridge, St.Austell, Cornwall, England.

Father: John Nicholls, baptised 19 August 1827, St.Merrin, Cornwall, England and died 1913 aged 85 years old, Cornwall, England.

Mother: Mary Ann Yelland, born 1836, Toghboy, Rosscommon, Ireland. died 1912, aged 76 years old, Cornwall, England.

William married Mary Cuffe in 1881 and had a large family.

To date I have no trace of the Man William Hugh Nicholls in Qld from 1896. A recent post from another poster has suggested William may have travelled to W.A. to the Kalgoolie area and maybe even had a son Harry.

Would like to ask if it is possible for anyone to take a look at the BDM for either William or Harry or perhaps other records which might match my enquiry.
Thanks

"...I have no trace of the Man William Hugh Nicholls in Qld from 1896."

What is the 1896 reference to him in QLD?

BDM indexes for Queensland and WA are online.  In both cases you would need to purchase certificates for more information.

Possibly of interest - two children born QLD enlisted in WA, Henry Sydney Cade, b. Cairns, and Joseph Charles Nicholls also b. Cairnes, with Priscilla Nicholls listed as their mother.

Charles Cade and Priscilla (Elizabeth) Parrish had a number of children between 1883 and 1897, including a Joseph Charles and Henry Sidney. Charles Cade died in 1897 and in 1898 she married a George Nicholls; they had at least one child in Queensland in 1901.

In later records Priscilla is listed as the wife/widow of George William Nicholls, he died in 1926 aged 65, she died in 1945 aged 88 and lists her child "Harry" who died in WWI:

Harry seems to have actually died on return to Australia in 1919:

Now, could George William be your William Hugh, giving himself a new name?

Again thank You to Dundee for your suggestions, I did look through these and nothing looked to obvious to me! :-\
jorose thank you for your thoughts and perhaps this is worth looking into and has certainly put some records for food for thought on the matter. just need to follow up on it, how to prove any of it will be the issue.
Thanks again for your comments
