CLIFFORD - anyone recognise this combination?
« on: Thursday 29 December 16 10:59 GMT (UK) »
I know this is a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone recognised this collection of Cliffords.

Parents : Daniel Clifford and Ellen O'Connell / O'Connor
Children:
Jeremiah - b c 1854
John Joseph - b June 1855, possibly in London?
Mary Louisa - b 1859
Catherine - b 1863
Daniel - birth unknown
Ellen - birth unknown

The first 5 came to South Australia.
The last 2 went to the US, possibly Boston.

Both Catherine and Mary married men from Killoglin but I don't know if they came from Killorglin themselves.

Any help in locating where in Kerry they came from would be greatly appreciated!

Fiona

Assuming they were Catholic- have you checked the church registers for Killorglin or surrounding parishes?
http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0683 leads to the records here-

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I am sure they were Catholic. But sadly the Killorglin parish records for the period 1850-1880 (I think that was the date range) no longer exist. I was told that they were burned by a vengeful parish housekeeper!
