Kathleen Dempsey

I have a Kathleen Dempsey born 1883 in Dartford, Kent, she marries Richard Croucher and going forward I have all the information.  However what I cannot find is anything about her parents, baptism etc.  On the 1901 census she is a servant in a Beer House but I cannot see her on the 1891 census anywhere.  Any thoughts would be welcome.  Thanks.

Looking at her marriage certificate she gives her father's name as John Dempsey, Labourer.

Looking for such a person gives this family who may be a strong contender

1891 census 55 Blyth Road, West Ham

In this census Kate is down as born Erith, Kent which is ion the Dartford Registration District. However there does not appear to be a birth registration for her

Not sure where you have her in 1901 as I did not find that one

Oh thank you so much, that makes much more sense now, in 1901 she was working as a servant to a Beer House Keeper in Erith, so all of this fits in nicely.  Thank you again.

The 1901 has 2 entries - neither for a Kathleen Dempsey but both for Kate Dempsey

Born 1882 Hornsey Middlesex

Born 1883 Erith Kent

There are several trees on Ancestry showing her parents as John Dempsey & Mary Ann McCarthy.  Marriage date to Croucher 26.10.1908 - she died 19.1.1942 in Kent aged 58

Anything is possible, she was a formidable woman, her husband Richard was awarded the Military Medal during WW1, but where she was born in a mystery.  I think her father John may have been born in Ireland.  Thank you again for your help.
