Lookup Help Please
« on: Thursday 29 December 16 21:58 GMT (UK) »
Could I please have some fresh eyes to guide my next step to best resolve this brick wall.
I’m looking for birth details on Hannah Miller, born c1790, so I can trace her parents as well.  Hannah married Thomas Whittle on 23 April 1810 St John’s Church, Preston.  I can’t locate her on 1841 census, but have her in 1851 (Liverpool) census stating her birth as Cumberland, Carlisle age 62.  No luck again on 1861 census although there is a death in Preston in 1861 for a Hannah Whittle, aged 69.

These are the names of the children I believe they had  - Elizabeth, Thomas, Jeremiah, Joseph, Andrew, Hannah.  I’ve only confirmed details of Jeremiah Ismah born c1818, married in Preston 1840 and died in Liverpool 1847.

I’m at a stage now where the more I look, the more confused I become so any thoughts would be very welcome, thanks.

What was Hannah's condition at the time of marriage?
Lan OPC shows her name as Whittle.
A few records to check here,http://www.archersoftware.co.uk/igi/fs-cul.htm#C
Sibling search on familysearch shows eight children.

Unfortunately, I really can't add anything more.  I am working on the assumption that her first child was Elizabeth born c1813.
Thanks so much for your input, will check it out.

Hi, I've been looking for the 1841 census record on ancestry and darned if I can find it.  I looked again on family search so I can see where they are.  Thanks for that.  I am perplexed about the Cumberland entry in 1851 though, but I'll follow this through and see if I can locate her parents.
Thanks for all your help.

HI!

Also...there are several Miller baptisms in Preston at the right sort of time-see FamilySearch. However, I was unable to see one for Hannah other than one for Hannah bpt 31 May 1778, but buried  11 March 1790-daughter of John & Ellen Miller....maybe they had another daughter they named Hannah in 1790?!

Theories abound!!  Maybe they lived in Preston and visited family in Cumberland at the time of birth!!  Will keep trying for sure; but fresh eyes help.
