thanks!  I dont think so though.  he was alive much after that i believe.  may have been late 1990s early 2000 when he passed according to my mother.  i do know he married Dulcie Mavis Buchanan (b. abt. 1925). i believe the marriage was July 1946).  they had 2 sons: John Gavin Stewart and Malcolm Stewart.

The estates only go to 1972 on Naairs. Estates after that are at the masters office at the supreme courts. No voters roll available unfortunately.

Dulcie and John married on 27 July 1946 and she was born on 28 November 1925.  She passed away on 7 December 1994 in Durban. Unfortunately I cannot trace her estate number.

Found him!  John was born on 27 July 1921 and died on 5 March 2000 in Pinetown Natal. His id number was 2107275060086.  His estate was filed with the Pietermaritzburg Archives and is estate 3713/2000.

You don't give John or Mary's surname so hard to find info. There are no census records available so hard to find more info on your great grandfather. If you email sandfdoc@mweb.co.za with Johns details they may find his records and email them to you.
