St George's Hospital
« on: Saturday 31 December 16 12:14 GMT (UK) »
Hello Listers and Happy New Year

I am chasing a death in April 1922 at St George's Hospital in London.  The person who died has used a synonym all his life - never appearing in the census under this name although he appears in the press and his death is reported in the press at the hospital of tetanus.

I wondered firstly what registration district St George's comes under - is it Wandsworth? Secondly do deaths at the hospital have to be made in that registration district, ie if a person lived in another district - would that matter.  As I have to go through all the deaths for the quarter to find his actual name I am trying to narrow the search down as much as possible.

Thank you
Margaret

What name is the death reported under?

As far as I know a death would be recorded in the district where the person died even if they usually resided elsewhere.

Not sure what district it would come under but am sure someone will know.
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

At this date St George's Hospital was at Hyde Park Corner, registration district St George Hanover Square.

Secondly do deaths at the hospital have to be made in that registration district
Yes.

If only people would leave more of a clue when they use a different name completely all their lives!!!
