Looking for baptism of Ann Phipps abt 1785 Thrussington
« on: Sunday 01 January 17 05:09 GMT (UK) »
According to Pallots Marriage Index Daniel Garner & Ann Phipps married in 1804 in Thrussington.

In the 1841 and 1851 Census records Ann consistently gave her birth location as Thrussington.

1841 Census [both Daniel and Ann's age given as 55 making a birth about 1786] -  Registration district: Barrow upon Soar; Archive reference: HO107; Piece number: 593; Book number: 19; Folio number: 11: Page number: 17

1851 census [Ann's age is recorded as 66 so a possible birth about 1785] - Registration district: Barrow upon Soar; Archive reference: HO107; Piece number: 2087; Folio: 38; Page: 15

However I am unable to locate her and would appreciate some assistance to locate her baptism. :'(

You probably already have this but William Phipps & Sarah Watson married at Thrussington on 5 Oct 1773 & baptised several children there between 1776 & 1790.   I can't see an Ann but there is a bigger than usual gap between May 1782 (Sarah) and Dec 1787 (Thomas) where Ann could possibly fit.  The last child was Rebecca in 1790.

Possibly related to William is George Phipps, and Banns were read at Thrussington in 1771 for his marriage to Ann Inman of Queniborough.

I doubt it adds anything but the witnesses to Daniel & Ann's marriage were Wm Garner & Thomas Holling.

Hello Jomot,

Thanks so much for the reply.

A few questions:

Where did you locate the marriage please?  I couldn't locate it in Thrussington records  from Parish Chest nor Family Search.

I locate a record in which Ann narrows her birth location to Thurcaston.  I had a look on Google Maps and Thrussington & Thurcaston are about 11 miles apart but different Parishes.

Do you have access to Thurcaston records and if so could you please check for me.  I was unable to locate it on Familysearch.

Hi Westy

The information is from one of the LRFHS CD's.  Looking at it again it's possible that William & Sarah's first child was baptised in Ratcliffe on the Wreake - 23 Jan 1774, Willaim (sic) s/o Willaim (sic) & Sarah Phipps.

Nothing for Ann in Thurcaston either unfortunately.  There is a marriage there of John Phipps & Elizabeth Wright, both of Crompton, on 17 July 1786, followed by the baptism of son Matthew in Jan 1788.
