Judith Murray married Michael Hogan early 1830s Borrisokane
« on: Sunday 01 January 17 12:25 GMT (UK) »
My ancestor is Philip Murray born 1814. He married Anne Sheedy in 1831 in Borrisokane, had Mary 1832 in BOrrisokane & Patrick Philip  in Dundee in 1846 [on army posting]. I have a few threads on RC trying to find his birth/baptism & parents without success.....

HOWEVER - browsing the Borrisokane parish registers on http://registers.nli.ie/ I found this baptism:
May 1836: James son of Mich Hogan & Judith Murray sponsors Phil Murray & Mary Sheedy.
I think this could be my Philip Murray in which case Judith could be his sister - and even Mary Sheedy Anne's sister?

I haven't been able to find Judith's marriage on the parish registers, or any other child between 1830 & 1836. Will browse further in due course.

So I think it may help track Philip's family if anyone has any information on Judith Murray, possibly born near Borrisokane in about 1810...

Thanks in advance, Josey

Hi,
The Murray's lived in Killeen.
If you get a map of Borrisokane, just type it in on search/google, where you see the river at the cross road, turn right, the N52 as you go along you will see Ballyhaden on the left look slightly up and you will see Killeen.

Thank you for that. The Murrays you mention, do you know if the family include a Judith or a Philip? If so, do you know could have been the parents in the 1800s to 1810s? For some reason, [research not to hand at the moment but possibly partly Griffiths Valuation or tithe applotment] I had thought 'my' Murrays came from Upperchurch or Terryglass....however, now I do find I already had a 1825 tithe applotment document with Philip Murray & Michael Hogan both in Killeen; but if it was 1825, this Philip surely has to be the PARENT of Philip Murray born 1814 & married 1831 who would not be holding land at such a young age although a Michael Hogan having a child baptised in 1836 could be of an age to be a plot holder.

Philip born 1814 was born in England, so I presume to an army father - maybe his father was a brother to the Philip Murray who had the plot in Killeen?

Beginning to get too many maybes & possibilities, but all leads help to spur a bit of lateral thinking... :). Thanks for your info.
