Pinnells of Malmesbury
« on: Tuesday 03 January 17 15:03 GMT (UK) »
I have been researching my Pinnell family for a number of years and have got back to Charles Pinnell who married Susanna Pember in Great Badminton in 1769.  The marriage was by licence with consent of parents.  The couple had 11 children, Charles Pember, James, Elizabeth, Andrew, Mary, Daniel, Susanna, Stephen Tilton, Margaret, Sarah and Thomas.

I am wondering whether Charles was the son of Daniel and Elizabeth Pinnell bp 1746 in Malmesbury.  If he was I would not have thought parental consent would be required, although it may be that it was Susanna's age that was critical as I have not found a bp for her.

Any help in investigating this couple and their ancestors further would be much appreciated.

Thank you very much for that, I had seen the parish record of the marriage but not the licence/bond - obviously need to check Forest of Dean records again, have not done so for a while!

I have found a settlement certificate which quite clearly says Charles Pinnell claims to have been born in Malmesbury and I had therefore concluded he was probably the son of Daniel Pinnell and Elizabeth Bond, would be interested in any details of parents and siblings, or indeed any help in going further back.

Looking at the Gloucestershire Burial Index Cd after 1813

Great Badminton

Charles PINNELL - 14 July 1820 (aged 73) which I assume you have re c 1747

Susanna PINNELL - 6 January 1818 (aged 70) c 1748

Looking at my discs

Using the Soundex there is

PINHELL/PYNNELL/PINNEL/PENNEL/PANNELL/PENLY etc etc

There are PINNEL's being married at Old Sodbury

(Back to Forest of Dean records)

20 April 1747

two records

Susanna BANNING aged 23, Spinster : residence BADMINTON

by Licence and Marriage Bond

witnesses: W HUGHES/C HUGHES

Marriage Allegation: to marry at Old Sodbury

Memoranda: The groom and Gabriel VINER * are bound in the sum of £200 to marry at Old Sodbury

* Gabriel VINER a Mason of Badminton.

Gloucestershire Genealogical Database:
