Hi again Ruby, I can assure you the original for Frederick W shows his occupation as either a Boot Shop or Book Shop Keeper?

EDIT checking later census he is a Boot Dealer!
So he became a Boot dealer later after being a Book shop keeper?...just for confirmation  :)

:) No what the original shows is a smudged Boot or Book then a clear Shop Keeper in 1901, but a Boot Dealer in 1911?

Have you checked the mothers maiden name for each of those births using the GRO search?

They only married 1899 - son Frederick born Sept qtr 1900 so little chance of another child before the 1901 census.  Have you checked the 1911 census - index search shows no daughter of that name.

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp

Willenhall was in the Wolverhampton RD so the only birth there was in 1908 and GRO maiden name was not Ash
Carol i've never used GRO mainly familysearch besides other sites and i know that willenahll was in the wolverhampton Rd, as i myself was born in Willenhall  :)

The family were in Willenhall in 1901 and 1911 but you were quoting freebmd birth entries from Walsall which is the point I was trying to make

Family Search will not give you mothers maiden name for pre-1911 births but the new search facility on the GRO website will.  Using it enables you to determine the correct birth entry when you find multiple entries for the same name.

Register (free) with the GRO then use the info from freebmd

Following this as I was about to post the 1901 census, but keyboard beat me to it! Boot and Book could easily be mistaken on transcribing. When did he die - if it was after 1939, it might be worth checking the 1939 register to see what that says.
