Yes it is Ancestry. I typed in George Marden born 1862 (5 years either side) and that result came up in passenger lists.

I am obviously doing something wrong as the only result I get by doing that is the 1901 passage, I can't seem to get the 1882 one.  Never mind.

ADDED
I can see a possible entry on FindMyPast for 1882 but need a world sub to view it  ::)

No it was from 1901 that passenger list as I stated in my first reply. This George S Marden was 39. I think the OP wanted any passenger lists not just 1882.

Yes that's right I believe he travelled quite a lot and I have told so did Alice his wife (not necessarily together) but I cannot see anything for her

Sorry Coombs I was asking about the 1882 record,  I have already commented on that 1901 record that I do not believe is him.

He was still at home with his parents in 1881 occ Brcklayer.
1882 he travelled on assisted immigration to Australia occ Bricklayer
1885 he was back in England to marry Alice. Where was Alice prior to this as it may show where George was.

Where were the children staying when Alice went away.

It may be worth a specific look up request for George leaving Australia between 1882 & 1885 on the Australia boards and to see if he is mentioned over there during that period.

In 1881 Alice Hinds b1866 st Pancras was in Islington parents listed as Edmund (should be Edward) and Cecilia. However the family had travelled out to Canada previously. There is a thread about Alice's father Edward.
The daughter of Alice and George's first daughter (b1888) told me that her mother was left with George's mother Susan in Tottenham when she was very young, presumably my Great Grandfather (b1886) was also left with her.
