Happy New Year to all.
The 1891 census for Elizabeth Miles, widow aged 65 living in Crosspenmaen, Mynyddislwyn also has her son William single aged 42, a Coal Miner and her niece Sarah Ann Miles aged 7.

All three born in Crosspenmaen.
Please can someone help find Sarah Ann in 1901.

No mother's maiden name given in the GRO index, so possibly illegitimate. Not much help there I'm afraid.

There's a Sarah Miles who has a number of illegitimate children baptised in Newport between 1883 & 1893. she appears to marry a Mr Taylor, but do not see Sarah Ann with her in 1901, when the others are with her, so possibly not her

At 17 in 1901 she is likely to be a servant, so could be anywhere.

There's a tree on A*try suggesting her mother was Mary MILES (daughter of Elizabeth from the 1891) who married William JONES.

Sarah marries as JONES to George ROGERS 1909 Pontypool.

If that's the case, I wonder why she is down as niece rather than granddaughter, unless they were trying to cover it up. The only way to be certain would be to get her birth certificate.

She'd be William's niece - perhaps the enumerator muddled up who was head of the household when sorting out the relationships
