Joseph Godwin Upton St Leonards marriage.

Have tried to find a marriage for Joseph Godwin and Dianah (Ann)Manning at Upton St Leonards Gloucestershire. Joseph was previously married to Caroline Luker Who died in 1872.He had been living in Upton St Leonards with Caroline and had Four children. He married? Dianah my Great Grandmother between 1872 and possibly 1875 when the next child was born. They then had two more children one being my Grandfather. They both died on the same day 21/2/1924 and are buried in St Leonard's churchyard. I have searched everywhere for a marriage but have not been successful. They were a very religious family so I find it hard to think they would not have been married and their grave is very ornate and prominent in the churchyard for a couple who had not been formally married. They were both employed at Boughton Hall in Upton St Leonards. Anybody any ideas?

I just looked at that one and it says MMN Manning?? Unless I am looking at the wrong one!

Dianah appears to be with her mother in Cam in 1851 and 1861 as Manning.

Would love to know where she was in 1871.

In 1851 Diana/h is recorded as Granddaughter but Daughter in 1861.

There is a marriage for Joseph Godwin in 1874 on freebmd with three other females on the page, unusual this but I am not expert enough to find out why.

Added there is one other Joseph in Gloucestershire in the 1881 but he is married to Jane, who is not one of the three females on the page

Maybe Emma Frank Griffett should appear as

Edmund Frank Griffett   (born 1854 Gloucester)

You have come to the same conclusion as I did, Rosie, just that you were quicker! 
The ref numbers of all 4 names are clear enough on the actual page, so it seems the most likely explanation is that "Emma" was actually a male - and as you say most likely actually Edmund.  Someone's writing not very clear along the process!
