Either Henry or Alice could have used the surname Etheridge I guess. Legally I suppose it was their given surname , even though they used Haines. Very puzzling family Alan.

Two minds think alike I too was attracted to that so I have a copy at home.I was a bit put off when I saw them in the next census married 30 years but I did send a copy home of that as well.

By the way The other Henry Etheridge with the father Henry I did have a copy of his Baptism and his mother is an Elizabeth and his father is a carpenter but I know its a different family.

On the same baptism page in 1865 Maisemore I have found a Thomas Etheridge parents Charles and Elizabeth I wonder where he went.In 1861 Charles was with a wife Elizabeth and as I said earlier on I am not sure if that is my Elizabeth or a different one.Because in 1881 Charles is a widow and Elizabeth is Elizabeth Haines not his wife.I cant find Charles in 1871 yet.

Why was Thomas not baptised Haines the same as Alice and Henry.Maybe it is a different Elizabeth.

Not sure who you are seeing on 1911 that  could be them - if its the couple in Derbyshire, then they're different as they can be found together in 1891

Can you find that Charles Meakin born C1860 in Birmingham in 1891 or before.

I can find one born in Derby.

I can find the couple in 1911 marrying in 1881 Alice Johnson
