Hannah Ann Cooling
« on: Saturday 07 January 17 17:15 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone find this lady after 1861? I would appreciate a fresh pair of eyes

1828 born Lambeth to John (d1854) and Mary Collier (d1862)
1847 marries William Cooling (1817-66) at Lambeth
1851 daughter Mary Ann Hannah Cooling born (she marries Frederick George Morris in 1870 at Lambeth)
1851 census living in Bermondsey
1853  daughter Ann Jane Cooling born
1861 census living in Lambeth

I cannot find a death for Hannah and I cannot find her or her now married daughter on the 1871 census.

Thanks
Amelia

I should add it's a little strange as Mary Cooling's husband appears to remarry as a bachelor in 1891 to Letitia Rosina Langton.

There is a Jane Ann Cooling who dies 1854 Lambeth so that looks likely for the second daughter

There is a Hannah Cooling who dies in Lambeth in 1892 not sure who she can be

The age given for the Hannah Cooling who died Lambeth 1892 was 64 which gives a birth year of 1828, as in your original post.

Not at all sure that this is Hannah Cooling but in both the 1881 and 1891 Censuses there is an H C born 1828, a widow who is a patient in the Lunatic Asylum at Friern Barnet, Barnet. She doesn't appear in the 1901 Census. However if she died in Barnet why would the death be registered Lambeth? That's why I'm not sure if it's her or not. Perhaps the death certificate would say for sure.

That's interesting but it seems unlikely for a death in Lambeth. I'm inclined to think she's under a different name but what? Her daughter is not with her new husband in 1871 so I wondered if they were together
Oh and yes agree that the dates for the Hannah Cooling death tie up but where is she in 71, 81 and 91?

There's some Morris births, mother's maiden name Cooling, registered in the Lambeth area.
Dec 1870, Lambeth, Frederick George
June 1872, Camberwell, Amelia Emily (possibly died 1875)
Dec 1874, Lambeth, George William (possibly died 1875, not certain )
Sep 1876, Lambeth, Emma
Sep 1879, St Saviour, Maud (possible death in same quarter)

Thanks John I've got them but only had the death for Amelia Emily.  I have found Emma in 1891 with her paternal grandparents (Susan Morris, b1825 Ilford, husband Frederick)

Odd that they weren't giving an address for the brides in the Lambeth Holy Trinity marriage register. Except where both parties gave the same address.
There's a baptism for Maud in 1879 at St John Walworth. Father Frederick a Hatter, as per marriage, and abode given as 6 Manor Place. But they're not there in 1881!
Have you found Frederick Morris on any census from 1871 onwards?
John

I've got a possibility in 1881 - Frederick George Morris, king & queen street walworth he's a hatter born 1853 Lambeth, wife is Mary Ann b1851 Bromley Kent?
