She also had a twin called Mary.  Young Margaret was buried aged 5 weeks on 5th December, 1838 at St Peters, Bolton.

It would appear that mother Margaret was buried on the 2nd January, 1839 at St. Peters, wife of Thomas.

Baptisms St. John, Preston:
1833 Reece Bilsborough, child of Thomas & Margaret, occupation bricksetter
Dec. 1837  Margaret Bilsborough, child of Thomas & Margaret, abode Tithebarn St., occupation bricksetter.

Were there 2 babies called Margaret Bilsborough/ Billsborrow with mother's surname Price registered in 1838, 1 in  Preston and 1 in Bolton?

Its been puzzling me for a day or more about the two with mmn Price.  I suspect the one in Preston died in the March Qtr 1838 registered Preston (Margaret Billsborrow), so not so unusual for the other Margaret to be born in the same year to the same parents.

So, if we are assuming that Reece's mother was the Margaret who died Dec. 1838/ Jan 1839 when Reece was a little lad:
Father may have re-married.
Reece may have been in an orphanage or workhouse. There was an orphanage operated by nuns in Preston. I don't know when it opened.
Reece may have been boarded out to a family who may or may not have been related to him. Incorrect names may have been given on  1841 census.
He may have been sent to live with Welsh relatives, assuming they existed. ( Why was he called Reece?)
His name may have been incorrectly recorded /transcribed as Richard or Robert, or something else. Even more likely if he wasn't living with parents. Reece would have been an unfamiliar 1st name in Lancashire.
Did he have any other names?

2nd & 3rd of above happened to a young niece & nephew of my 2xGGM after both their parents died young. That 2xGGM also died in childbirth. Some of her children lived with relatives; incorrect ages & versions of names were recorded /transcribed.  ( I located her daughter, my GGMA, as a young woman, only last month.) A son of 2xGGM was registered at birth with a different forename to that he was baptised with. The registered name was not common. His military records were under various combinations.
Did the couple Reece lodged with in 1851 have any other connection with him? Where were they in 1841?
What happened to Reece's father after his wife died?

The Ratcliffe family that he was lodging with in 51 are not connected through any marriage combinations that i can find in 41 they were in penwortham  .
I have just found a marriage in preston for the only other reece i can find wouldn't you know it..
Reece PRICE to a Charlotte Jones 1835 St Johns ...father a brick layer
Could be Margarets relation. Now to find him on census (typical he's in jail.)
