Help with Scottish marriage entry 1887
« on: Monday 09 January 17 20:23 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
Could anybody help me with the attached - it is an excerpt of a Scottish marriage entry (the original) showing the details of the father and mother of the groom and the details of the minister that officiated. So far, I think I've got:

Peter Barr [can't get the occupation/rank]
[Unknown] Barr [unknown, assuming "nee"] Pollock
Signed James Mitchell, minister of South Leith

Any help would be much appreciated. I need the first name of the mother (maiden Pollock) to tie up other records I've got. She could be Binny, Barbra or Robina, or maybe all three.

Thanks very much,

Tom

Thanks very much - very quick replies!

That knocked out one line of inquiry but at least I'm moving again! God bless the Scottish and their digitised records!

Actually, can I be cheeky and ask for some help with the place of marriage too? Image attached below. I'm fairly certain of the date being 15 July 1887, but the location is too difficult to me (other than "Leith") and whatever is below that.

Thanks in advance.

Definitely "The Manse"

I can't make out whether it's N(orth) or S(outh) Leith.

Think it's 'according to the Form(s) of the Church of  Scotland'

(well, that's what they usually say  ;D  )
