Date of Marriage Bond
« on: Tuesday 10 January 17 14:43 GMT (UK) »
I've just come across a marriage which took place on 7 April 1786 at St. Mary's, Lancaster.

Mark Foggitt, stonemason, married Mary Muschamp by Licence. The image is on Ancestry but unclear, so not well indexed. William Atkinson's marriage is on the same page.

However, the marriage bond for Mark and Mary's marriage is also on Ancestry. It is dated TEN DAYS after the event.

Was this normal? Surely the bond should have been drawn up at he same time as the Licence?
