Yes, it is a shame, but hey, I guess that's just the way the cookie crumbles.
At least Andrew Pool is not a common name in County Cork, so I've found a promising baptism.
Would have been useful to confirm the father's name from the marriage, c'est la vie.

Is it not more likely that he was Powell? I assumed the marriage was right (maybe Powell rather than Powel) as the priest would likely have been more used to Irish accents 🤔

That's the only time I see them use Powel(l).
All their kids were baptised Pool(e) as far as I cam remember.
And I can't see any Andrew Powel(l) baptisms in County Cork.

An Andrew Poole was baptised on 9 Sep 1815 in Clonakilty parish, son of Francis and Catherine Barry.

My Andrew's first daughter was named Catherine, but he didn't call any of his sons Francis.

Another interesting baptism is Bridget Coakley in 1820 in Clonakilty, daughter of John and Mary Donovan. But Bridget Coakley is a much more common name.

At least they're keeping us descendants on our toes! I'm just happy that my Belgian family lived somewhere with such tremendous recordkeeping. Makes up for some of the Irish records!
