Will 1790
« on: Wednesday 11 January 17 22:08 GMT (UK) »
John Hale died in Macclesfield in 1790 and according to Ancestry, there is a will but it's not available online.

My FindMyPast sub ran out last week! Can anyone tell me if it's available in their Cheshire collection please?

Thank you :)

Hi, Annie it is on Findmypast. A copy is also available for purchase (£4:00) from Cheshire Archives. Google Cheshire Wills online and it will take you to the search page for the Wills database. You can order the will from this page.

FindMyPast is free 12th to 15th Jan I believe.

There also seems to be lots of Land tax records for him in MAcclesfield from about 1784 until his death. which will be exciting if you haven't already seen them. Some years half a dozen entries for him. That's supposing that's the same person of course. The 1790 will on FindMyPast says he is a 'gentleman'.

I found it! Thank you! And it is the right person! Although it doesn't help me get further back at the moment, I'll hang on to a copy- you never know when a missing bit of the jigsaw will fall into place!
