Try this Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre
www.brucemuseum.ca/collections-research/archives.../genealogy

Fill out  the Bruce County Research Request Form .
There is a $30.00 Canadian fee for the search if they do not find what you are looking for your money will be refunded.

It looks like they have newspapers on microfilm so fingers crossed they have them for the dates you need.

Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre were not able to find anything on Thomas Smith  :-\ and for Mary Jane it wasn't much - the obit is as follows:
"A very old resident of Paramount, Mrs. Thomas Smith, was called away by death at two o'clock on Monday morning, in her 8??? year. She was tenderly nursed by her daughter, Mrs. Kappell. The relatives have the sympathy of a host of friends."

Any advice on how to find record of marriage for Thomas Smith and Mary Jane Beaton? I think they would have been married around 1851 - 1855 near Bruce, Ontario, Canada

Civil registration for marriages in  Ontario started1 July 1869 - prior to that you would probably need to search Church records.  The Archives of Ontario holds records of some incomplete marriage registers prior to 1869 - County marriage registers  (1858 - 1869) were kept from January 1, 1858 until official government or civil registration began in Ontario July 1, 1869

The marriage records reported from 1858-1869 will tend to give place of residence, place of
origin, names of parents of both Bride and Groom, ages of Bride and Groom & names of
witnesses. Caution: always be sure to check the surrounding counties in the event that a

Always be sure to check the surrounding counties in the event that a
marriage was performed by a travelling minister who regularly crossed county boundaries................

So, I went back to researching John Cappell and I went through all of the census records that his wife and children were on and in 1910 Bay City, Michigan Census, not too far from them was the following family:
P. Henry Cappell - head - born: 1874 MI Parents: Canada
Daisy M or N - wife - born: 1875 Ireland Parents: Ireland
John  - son - born: 1895 MI
Patrick  - son - born: 1898 MI
Sarah N - daughter - born: 1901 MI
Grant L - son - born: 1903 MI

I have tried to research these people to try to find a connection with my John Cappell, since this is the first Cappell neighbor off there's that I found, but I have not been able to locate any of them besides on this 1910 census. The image quality of this 1910 census record is better on familysearch than on ancestry - on ancestry I wasn't 100% sure that their last name said Cappell, but when I saw the record on familysearch, I could see that it 100% says that their last name is Cappell! I've tried searching each for each of them with no luck, any suggestions? Or maybe another set of eyes might find something I missed. Thanks in advanced for any help!
