I've finally gone private with my Ancestry Tree.
« on: Friday 13 January 17 20:12 GMT (UK) »
After years of resistance to the idea I've finally gone Private with my Ancestry Tree. This last week or so  I've found new info regarding my Griffiths family.Looking at the new findings tonight someone has erased what I found and put completely extraneous info in its place. Its going to take quite a bit of sleight of hand to put things right.

Regards
William Russell Jones

I don't understand how that can happen - do you mean that they've changed your tree? The only people that can do that are people that you've invited to see your tree as an editor, if they are just a guest they can see it but not change it. If your tree is public and you haven't invited anyone to share it they can't change anything.

I went private several years ago for the same reason.
I am more than happy to share if someone contacts me and they are genuine.

Good luck

Will going Private ensure that the said info isn't changed again?

I'm with groom on this one, it's not possible for someone else to change your tree surely.

Yes, I agree Groom and jess5athome - could only be an invited guest who altered something. How rude of them to do it without asking ?

It will as no -one will see it unless you allow them to. However no-one can change a public tree unless as I said you have invited them as an editor.

So they won't be allowed to do this with my Tree being private?
