Ship "Persian" Master's death
« on: Saturday 14 January 17 04:39 GMT (UK) »
Can sks please help.  Looking for more information re a death at Dundee recorded 3rd November 1891 of John Campbell, born Perthshire.  Hope to be able to attach an image from Find My Past of a record of death, not sure he could have died November 1891 or earlier -- there is another date under the ship's name.
Trust someone can assist with further data re this John Campbell identity.
Kind regards

He died intestate so there is no will. The Probate Index shows that confirmation was granted to Isabell Cameron Campbell or Mortimer, wife of John Mortimer commission  merchant and produce broker of Aberdeen.

His death certificate is available to view/download at modest cost on Scotland's People - 1891, Dundee St Peter 282.4, No 494. This should give the name(s) of any wif/ves and the full names of both his parents including his mother's maiden surname.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Thanks Shaun J for your replies.  Will check these names you sent -- they are no relation -- could be business related. MY GGF was born Perthshire 1826 and his Dundee issued Cert. was Nod: 88690.
Kind regards
