Aeroplane Crash Site at Welby Lincolnshire
« on: Saturday 14 January 17 13:44 GMT (UK) »
Anyone know anything about aeroplane crash sites ?...on the 31st May 1960 a Percival Provost T1 crashed at Welby Lincolnshire, killing the pilot, Peter Robin Tomes from Dorset, he was on a training flight from RAF Barkston Heath....I know the crash was just off Church Lane Welby, but I am trying to find the exact grid reference for the crash site, I am also trying to find out where Peter Robin Tomes was buried, I always thought that this was at St. Bartholomew's churchyard, just down the road from the crash site, but now believe that this might not be correct .....any help appreciated....Del.

I am also trying to find out where Peter Robin Tomes was buried,

If you contact St. George's they should be able to tell you if he is buried there.

Did you contact St Georges in Fordington, Dorset  as suggested  :-\

Thank you for the replies......I intend to contact the churchwarden at St. Georges, Fordington, on Monday re- a burial for Peter Robin Tomes......there are quite a few sites regarding airplane crashes in the county, but none seem to give grid references, probably due to some still being grave sites, from WW2 where bodies were never found......Del.
