Laurence Flynn

I am looking for a Laurence or Laury Flynn born Co Waterford 1818. His wife was Mary Flynn born 1820. He emigrated to Newcastle Under Lyme in England between 1840 and 1852. They had a daughter Bridget/Bridge born in Waterford and a Son John born 1853 (abt) in Newcastle under Lyme

Hello and welcome  :)

Is Mary's maiden name also Flynn?
1851 shows all children born in Ireland including John aged 1 month.
Did that John die and then  another John born in England?

Regards
Heywood

Added: I have seen the death of the first John now and the birth of the second one in the indexes.

Hello there
Thank you for replying.
I have no further info unfortunately but someone else's research/family tree shows Laurence & Mary having 2 sons called John so yes, that's what I believe could have happened
Thanks again

Do the family show Waterford as birthplace on a census? If so, which one please.

The birth certificate of John or Thomas who were born in Newcastle under Lyme would show you Mary's maiden name which might help with Irish research.

I keep forgetting that we can access maiden names from the indexes now.
The births of John and Thomas show mother's maiden name as Kearns.

Thank you so much. I couldnt see that info on the index -only the name of the child and family surname. I can now try and get a bit further hopefully before we travel to Ireland in July.
Thanks once again  Tracey

It is a new feature.
Go to this  site http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

You have to register and to see the name you also go to 'order certificates online' but you don't have to do that. You just fill in the details and hopefully find out the info.

Does one of the children show they were born in Waterford?

I have looked but can't see any records for the family.
