Arthur Crook of Rushford, Nr Thetford
« on: Saturday 14 January 17 20:34 GMT (UK) »
Hello

This is a fairly vague request but does anyone know anything about Arthur Crook of the Old Poultry Farm Rushford. I know his family details but am looking to see if anyone knows anything else, for exmple about his work or activities during WW2, the latter in particular. I don't think he ever married but I do not even have a date of death so any help anyone can would be great.

Thanks as always

Paul Crook

Sorry, I should have given you a bit of a clue. He was born in 1896 He didn't serve in the war. He volunteered but was discharged after 10 days as being medically unfit for service. I presume he didn't join up in WW2 but may have served in the Home Guard or ARP but that is one of several things I want to find out about him.

Thanks for the reply

Newspaper Diss Express 26 March 1909 on find my past, I don't have a subscription so cannot read the full article.
_______ who was in charge of the pigs was summoned for having unlawfully directed their movement from Norfolk into Suffolk. Arthur Crook 18 and Henry Bennett 21 also of Rushford, labourers, were summoned for unlawfully having moved the pigs, and Edmund -------------

Looks like the man who hired them to move the livestock was misappropriating them.

Adds a little colour to the family history.

Thanks amondg. I don't know all the names youyve sent me. Maybe there were 2 families. The probate is interesting. That's his sister and brother in law

All the best
