I can eliminate one of the William CRAIGIE deaths for you ... back in a moment.

***  Correction  ***  ... above should have read as "John" CRAIGIE (not William).

I do for Mary (nee Anderson) and 3 of the children, but that isn't at Montrose.

oops ... sorry, got confused with Montrose (as in birthplace).

So you have them 1851 - Parish of Dun - Angus - 5 Wharf Street
Mary - 34 (Seaman's wife) ... children :  John (8) /  Helen (6) William (2)

and 1861 - Aberdeen - St Nicholas - 3 Watts Court
- CRAIGIE - James - 47 - Sailor, Merchant Service
- Mary - 45 - wife  ... children :  Helen / William / Elizabeth and Mary Jane.

   ???

Yes, I have them at both places.  Sorry for any confusion.  Although I haven't found James Craigie in the 1851 census and assume that he was at sea.

The other CRAIGIE sister, mentioned in Obit. for Mrs Helen SOUTHBERG (see earlier link.)

Archives New Zealand hold Probate record for >

STEVENSON - Elizabeth Dacre -- Year :  1933
Access to this is via familysearch link ^^ above.

The will mentions her children of two marriages.  [Have no explanation for the middle name "Dacre" -- it has also been spelled as "Dakers" and similar on other records ?? ]
------

Elizabeth CRAIGIE firstly married John ASPINALL (sp. is ASPENALL on some records) - 1871.

John ASPINALL was a miner of Skipper's Point who died in 1890.  One of the witnesses to his 1888 Will, was a Robert STEVENSON of Skipper's Point ( who is probably the same man who became Elizabeth's second husband.)

Probate record for > ASPINALL - John - Skipper's Point - Miner - Year:  1890 ... also can be viewed at famlysearch link.

Yes, it was in part the "Dakers" middle name that made me question my original research about these siblings, and whether or not they did have the same parents.  You see, James Craigie, the Ship Master and father of the siblings, had a brother, John Craigie.  John married an Elizabeth Dakers, so I wondered if the Elizabeth Dakers Craigie, who married John Aspinall and Robert Stevenson, was their daughter, and not the daughter of James Craigie and Mary Anderson.

Thank you for those links   :)

Looking at Papers Past (not sure if you have covered that yet ?? ) :

William CRAIGIE (your man ?) - residing at or near to, Skipper's Point - appears in newspaper articles along with John ASPINALL (first husband of Elizabeth CRAIGIE) -- on local school committee (1881) ;

Wm CRAIGIE ... book debts of George MILLER, Storekeeper, of Skipper's Point, are sold to William CRAIGIE -- May 1877

Another article > 1877 > states that G. MILLER a surfaceman, went bankrupt in June 1877 .... Wm CRAIGIE is a relative of the man George MILLER.

*   Is this George MILLER the "George James MILLER" who married Mary Jane CRAIGIE at Queenstown in 1875.    ???

Above articles found in the "Lake Wakatipu Mail" newspaper.

I was actually wondering if that George Miller was a brother to William's wife, Louisa Miller.  It's possible that they are in fact all the same man!

The "Dacre" name seems only to come to the fore c. 1890. [Prob. transcription error, but NZSG Marriages CD has "ASPINALL - Elizabeth Dawe - 1892 - marrying to Robert STEVENSON. ]

Elizabeth is though claimed as "a sister" in the obit of Helen SOUTHBERG ... and isn't she the 9- year-old daughter > born Montrose > of James and Mary CRAIGIE  in 1861 Scotland census at St Nicholas, Aberdeen ???
