Did you notice there was a couple of death record for John Wilson Holms  - one in 1959 aged 74 years - Lasswade  and one in 1969 aged 56 years Bonnyrigg and Lasswade.

Thanks, I managed to track one line on Anc in the Scotland census so that helps.
If you got them on Anc make sure that you look at the originals on SP as the Anc transcriptions are notoriously unreliable.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Is the image the actual  church entry or just the marriage  index with no added information.
Neither. The image is the original of the statutory civil marriage certificate and contains lots of information.

I found Janet Holms 52 in 1911 Cockpen Midlothian.
No James  with her and no death found.

Only these 2 of the right age.
1911 Johnstone and Elderslie Renfrew.
James Holmes 53

1911 Bridgeton Lanark.
