John Musselwhite born 1876 Cookham
« on: Sunday 15 January 17 22:00 GMT (UK) »
Dear All

I wonder if anyone can help me at all - I am wondering if anyone has access to the marriage records of John Musselwhite to Ellen Cook - I know it was on the 17th October 1896 at Stubbings Church, Near Maidenhead, Berkshire but cannot find the marriage Banns for this.

I am trying to establish where/details of Ellen Cook.  She was born around 1876 and according to the 1911 census was from Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.  I cannot find a birth, previous census records or anything for her - can't find either John or Ellen in the 1891, 1901 or 1939 census records.  They were both still alive until the 1950's so should be somewhere.

My dad thinks her father was a William Cook - but trying to do a standard search for Ellen or William brings up 100's of names but cannot find any for Hertfordshire.  My dad thought that they were from Maidenhead, Berkshire but again I cannot find anything. (My dad said Ellen's father was a builder in Maidenhead).

Can anyone help at all please.

Many thanks if you can help in anyway.

Kind regards
Julie

The 1901 incorrectly shows both John & Ellen as being born in Herts - but both are shown as born Cookham

There is only one John Musselwhite b Cookham on the 1871/1881/1891 census.  On all entries he is born 1869 and parents are John & Ann

Hi again, can't help thinking that Ellen formed part of this 1891 family:-

William Cook 26 occ Bricklayers Lab b Rickmansworth
Mary A 35
William 14
Henry 10
Alice 8
Eliza 4
James Preston 37 Boarder
All others shown as born Maidenhead
Residing at Orchard Cottages, College Avenue,  Maidenhead
Census Ref RG12/1005/49/54

Looking at the 1901 I do not think they know where they were born, William is now born Oxford, Mary Ann Watford, Hertfordshire, and Alice Swindon, Wiltshire!
