Williamina Finlay/Kerr murder!
« on: Monday 16 January 17 11:59 GMT (UK) »
Hiya,

Ive just discovered on a site that a distant cousin was murdered in Hamilton on Sept 15th 1966. Her husband was John Kerr, they married in 1917. Williamina known as Ina in the family was born in 1893 in Hamilton, her parents were John Finlay and Elizabeth McGregor.

I was wondering if someone could help find some information on her murder, i have no death certificate or anything just dates from a family tree. says she died at 49 Russell St, Hamilton

Thanks

Small, front page mention found in the Glasgow Herald, Sep 19, 1966 edition.

Says she was found dead in her living room and that a man, charged with the murder, would appear in Hamilton Sheriff court that day.

Of course, editions of the Glasgow Herald after that date probably carry further mention if you want to trawl through same.

Unfortunately, online editions of the local newspaper, the Hamilton Advertiser, only go up to mid 1950s. If you live in/near the area, though, the library probably holds later editions on microfilm.

Found by chance looking for something else.  I was seeing a lot of my grandparents at the time and remember the detail of the murder if anyone is still interested.  Living in Canberra now.
