Brick Wall
« on: Monday 16 January 17 13:32 GMT (UK) »
Hello there,

For as long as I can remember now I have struggled to find the Parentage
of a Morris Swinnerton. This is my brick all.

Morris was born July 1727 Wrexham Abbot.
Married Margaret Price 28 July 1748 St Oswald's, Oswestry.

Morris Swinnerton who died in Sep 1781 at Sellatyn, Oswestry.
There was  an inquest into his death at the Eagles, which I am told was a public
house.

thanks,
bswinno.

Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Well I have searched my data bases and hard copies of which I did have, and cannot find.
So the place of birth I cannot prove.
As he lived and died at Sellatyn not far from Oswestry it could may well include
around that area.

Have you looked at the marriage entry on F M P ? It does say they were both servants of Ed Jones of Maesbury Hall. There is some writing after it but not exactly sure what it says :

" ?? late of Fford in west?? Parish"

That is only a guess   :-\

it looks like '.....west acton parish'. Acton is a part of Wrexham. Not sure about Fford - ffordd means road in Welsh.

I don't see a baptism for him in my Wrexham parish records booklets*.  As Liz says - source ?

* will do a double check.

Enlarged  the note - think it now says West Felton Parish  - not far from Oswestry.

Maybe just using 1727 as a rough idea - he would be 21 by 1748 and an adult ? ?

EDIT: I initially thought 'Acton' but had never heard of it in reference to Wrexham.

West Felton looks good:  my ancestors were baptised there - I should have recognised it :)

Both from the same broad area then, Claire  :)

I'll have another mosey around. The fact that info is specific maybe suggests a family bible.
