I found out last night  Winifred 's birth certificate says father unknown...?? So why use Anderson, instead of her mothers maiden name?

If the father was not named on the bc then one presumes Winifred's parents were not together. Perhaps Winifred's mother used the name Anderson to avoid embarrassment and keep respectability.

The birth was during WW1, many children were born in that era with 'unknown' fathers.

Thanks Jen,Ive read your PM before reading this post....So maybe she's trying to keep to Antonsen as near as possible by using Anderson?
