Hi Larkspur
Thank you will have a search around and see what I can come up with.

I have spotted the William Ghent to Mary Cullen but they do not quite match up with the family I appear to be following.

The Baptisms at Rolleston look like a strong possibity.

Regards Red

If the baptisms at Rolleston look promising surely the fact one child is baptised John Cullen Gent , leans towards the chance that his mothers maiden name was Cullen  ???

Hi Larkspur
There are two William Gents around this time.

William GENT and Mary CARNELL married 20 Feb 1798 at Bulwell
and
William GENT and Mary CULLEN married 1802 at Morton.

There is a witness called Samuel GENT on the marriage of Joseph GENT and Sarah DOUGHTY.
Not sure who Samuel is. Other witness is James Barnsdale (the parish clerk)

What date was Joseph and Sarah's wedding as I don't have it in my records.

Thanks!

Hi Red, have a look on a map at the locations.

Morton by Fiskerton is just down the road from Averham, where as Bulwell is further afield being the other side of Nottingham.

I think the Morton marriage is the correct one and is the one I have used in my tree. Given the use of Cullen as a Middle name for their Son John , I think the case is solid.

Cheers, Ade.

Hi Ade
Joseph GENT married Sarah DOUGHTY 14 Feb 1826 at Beckingham Lincolnshire.  Witness SAmuel GENT and James BARNSDALE ( who appears to be the parish clerk)
Sarah is listed of this parish and Joseph is listed as from elsewhere.

Baptism record for Sarah daughter of Robert and Ann Doughty 19 Feb 1809. At Beckingham Lincolnshire.

On the 1841 UK Census there is an Ann Doughty living near Joseph and Mary Ghent at Averham Southwell.  She is recorded as a widow pouper aged 66years.

I see what you mean by the map.  Yes I would say Mary Cullen is  our lady.

Is that the family at Fiskerton Rolleston Southwell Notts.  in 1841
William (1781) Mary (1781) John 1811 John 1796 William 1806 ?

Brilliant.  ;D Thanks very much.

Cheers, Ade.

PS: Yes the details you have for the 1841 census are the same as I have listed in my tree.
