THOMAS, Daniel Charles 1881-1936
« on: Thursday 19 January 17 01:32 GMT (UK) »
Hi there!
I am looking for any information about my great grandfather Daniel Charles "Dan" Thomas born in 1881 in Swansea, Glamorganshire, Wales.
He immigrated to New Zealand around 1907 and married Isabella Kidd in 1915.
He died on 20th January 1936 in Nelson, New Zealand.
I am specifically looking for his parents names so that I can continue my family tree.
Thank you!

I suggest the use of papers past which may glean information or the NZarchives.

Are you sure of his birth ?
because this cert comes up
Births Sep 1891   Thomas    Daniel Charles        Newport, M.    11a   210

but there truckloads of daniel thomas listed for wales and surrounds...

May I suggest the use of freebmduk to define which certificate number applies to your chap?
Have you acquired a death certificate .... which for NZ would have parental details of some discription???

Yes there are many Daniel Thomas born in Wales, which is why I cannot figure out which one he is haha!
All the information I have came from my aunt (his granddaughter).
I just discovered that his birthdate might be incorrect; he died at age 56 in 1936 which would make his birth year 1880 not 1881.
He was definitely in New Zealand before 1914 as he had a son, Charles Thomas, that year.

Thank you for your suggestions, I will give them a go :)
