Charlotte Edye Trott......................
« on: Thursday 19 January 17 16:35 GMT (UK) »
John Trott b 1810 b Chard Somerset, occupation Mason, married Charlotte Edye 1840 in Bristol. (have marriage certificate) They had 6 children

William Charles born 1841 (have birth certificate)
Elizabeth born 1843  Mutch Beachen Somerset
Charlotte Edye born 1845 born Mutch Beachen Somerset
James born 1847
George Henry born 1850
Rhoda born 1855
The others were born in Bristol

I have been on the GRO site which confirms that Charlotte is the mother except for Charlotte.

n the 1851/1861 census Charlotte is living with her Uncle and Aunt Elizabeth and Charles Burke in Bristol and in 188 she marries John Parminter.  Have marriage certificate which states John Trott, Mason, as the father.  One thing that does worry me is on oth census and marriage certificate her middle name is Edie.   Can find no registration for her.

Any help would be appreciated

Certainly doesn't look as if she was registered does it, unless the name has been transcribed incorrectly. I wonder if there is a baptism anywhere?

Very odd as the other children are registered, not as if she was the eldest and born before the marriage either.

But why if all the other children were registered.  Unless Charlotte went to live with her Uncle and Aunt from birth and the parents thought they would register the birth.  Cannot find a baptism either.

Thanks for your help.

Another bit of interest the father John is never around on the census with his family.  In 1851 he is living with his mother and siblings, unless he was just visiting.

Possibly his job as a mason meant that he worked away from home a lot.

Charlotte obviously knew that John Trott was her father, so they didn't informally adopt her.
