I was wondering if you lovely people could help me find the parents / siblings etc.. of Frances Jane Herbert... ive listed below what i know so far ...


Frances Jane Herbert born in Bermondsey 1850

Married Edward James Collins in Southwark 1870

Had children Florence Eliza Collins 1876 - 1944, Annie Frances Collins b.1878, Edward James Collins b.1881 and William b.1894

1881 Edwards mother in law (frances's mother) is listed as living with them - she is Frances Fido (widow) born around 1820

Edward James died in Southwark 1884

1891 census Frances is listed as a wife to Thomas Henry Carmoody

Frances's mother is also listed as living with them in 1891 but now as a Herbert not a Fido

Had children Ellen Mary Carmoody 1889 - 1944, Harry Thomas 1891 - 1916 and Alice Frances 1895 - 1950

In 1901 she is listed as a widow living off own means

Frances died in Shoreditch 1921

I searched for Frances on the gov website where (if i have the correct one as its listed as Harbert) her mothers maiden name is Richmond but i cannot find any marriages?

Found one marriage for Francis Herbert to John Fido

Is there a father named on her marriage certificate? **

** I see the marriage.  Father William Herbert farmer.

One of the witnesses is Henry Herbert so something to go on.

Also Frances is down as "full age" on 11 July 1870 so perhaps she was born a little earlier.

The plot thickens.

Frances Herbert widow - father John Rogers

So if there is a Frances Rogers marriage to William Herbert we could be in business!

Ive just searched her birth again and seen it says 1849 not 50 so she would be 21 at the time of marriage.

I did find an 1851 census with Frances listed as daughter to Frances Henry? and William Henry? whos a farmer! so im wondering if its a transcribing error on the Henry.. annoyingly for some reason i cant view the census on genes and cant find it on Ances? could anyone have a look for me?

I searched for Frances on the gov website where (if i have the correct one as its listed as Harbert) her mothers maiden name is Richmond but i cannot find any marriages?

There is a Frances Rogers marriage Newington 1847 and one of the possible grooms is
William Henry Harburt which ties in with the birth (spelt Harburt) and mothers maiden name is Rogers not Richmond.

Frances Rogers father John Rogers - that fits 

Now to find them on census with daughter Frances Jane.

Groom was a widower by the way, looks like he married first a couple of years earlier but that's going off the plot slightly.

No wonder it was hard to find!  Henry and Kubert are supposed to be Herbert.  And little Frances is 17 months not 17 years.
Have submitted a correction.
