Isaac Needham Robertson and the Robertsons in Staffordshire! Help!

Hello all.

This one is another brick wall I keep hitting with the Robertson side, espeically with Issac, who seems to be elusive!

This is what I know of...

ISAAC NEEDHAM ROBERTSON
1795–1860
BIRTH JUL 1795 • Harborne, Staffordshire, England
DEATH JAN 1860 • Wolverhampton, Staffordshire
He's my 4th great-grandfather

and I believe married

MARY ANN MERRELL
1801–1838
BIRTH ABT 1801 • Worcestershire, England
DEATH DEC 1838 • Worcestershire, England
My 4th great-grandmother

is 1814 in Worcestershire....

it's their son EDWIN ROBERTSON b1827, West Bromwich that is my 3rd Great Grandfather, who I think married ELIZA CROSBY b May 1831 in 1853....they then had ERNEST EDWIN ROBERTSON b Jan 1854 who married JANE POINTON b1854 and I am pretty certain on the rest from marriage and births that my Nan (who is living) remembers!

The reason I ask is that from here my family are in Staffordshire and it's all 'old Staffs' which is very WM too!

What I'd like to verify is that Isaac IS the 4th Great-Grandfather of my chain, and his whereabouts, as he appears and disappears!

Isaac Needham Robertson - died 1860 was aged 1.

Ernest Edwin Robertson born 1854 - mother's maiden name = - (no name shown)

If Isaac and Mary married in 1814, then she would only have been 13.  Death entry for Mary in 1838 shows an age of 38 (Stourbridge Registration District).

Marriage of Isaac/Mary was 7 May 1817, Kidderminster, Worcestershire (Familysearch.Org)

I see 1841 Isaac is in Gaol in Warwickshire and 1851 lodging with the Phipps in Egbaston
 (as Isaac Needham Robson)
More likely Death Reg fo INR is 1856 Birmingham, Warwickshire age 51 (GRO Index)
(If the informant didnt know him well his age would be out)

EDIT Burial is On Anc so Gro has made a mistake;

Possible Marriage;
Robert ROBERTSON to Frances BISSELL, 23 August 1787, Saint Martin, Birmingham, Warwickshire

Robert 1788 is a Retired Officer of Excise living in Shropshire in 1851 Census.
Anna Bradford Robinson married William CLARK, 15 December 1834, Saint Mary Magdalene, Woolwich, Kent, England

Ignore Trees which have Frances Robertson dying 1864 Warwickshire, she is too young. (age 62)

The birth certificate for Ernest Edwin Robertson arrive and it's not what i thought!

ERNEST EDWIN Boy

No name or surname of father

Name, Surname and Maiden Surname of Mother = Charlotte Robertson

Informant was Charlotte Robertson, mother, Heath terrace, West Bromwich on 13th February 1854

Any ideas? It means this is the farthest back I can go now...never came across a Charlotte Robertson before

As it stands I have

MARRIED TO:

JANE POINTON 2nd great-grandmother

BIRTH JANUARY 1854 • Stafford, Staffordshire
DEATH 15 FEB 1936 • Stafford, Staffordshire, England, United Kingdom

and their marriage date I have as: Jan-Feb-Mar 1886
(Birmingham   6d   80) on FreeBMD

From ERNEST EDWIN'S Birth Certificate which recently arrived I have his details as:
3rd Feb 1854 (Heath Terrace)

-No name or surname of father
-Name, Surname and Maiden Surname of Mother = Charlotte Robertson
-Informant was Charlotte Robertson, mother, Heath terrace, West Bromwich on 13th February 1854


Do you think it's worth paying for Ernest and Jane's MARRIAGE certificate to see if father is named?

Do you think I am on the right line now I've ignore who I thought was my 3rd Great Grandparents?

Yes until we can figure out who Charlotte is and find more on her it is no use trying to go back any further.

So what Census do you have for EER?

From what I can see he is easy to find 1881-1911 with Wife Jane

1871 appears to be under E Robertson.

1861 Trees have him as the Son of Edwin 1827 and Eliza and down as their Son in 1861 Census.

I cant find Edwin in earlier Census but from his Marriage his Father was Isaac Needham Robertson.

Did Edwin have a Sister Charlotte?, not that I can find.

There is also this Charlotte in West Bromwich Reg District in 1851 Census

Handsworth, Staffs;
Charlotte ROBERTSON, 26 (1825), Servant, born Arblebury, Lancashire

As you know probably there is a GRO Index Death Reg 1859 for a Charlotte Robertson age 39 also.

So a bit of a problem which my brain is having trouble solving at this stage.

Any one else have any suggestions??
